In Anita Cohen-Williams note about Syllabus (thanks for the note, Anita)
I noticed this:

That  cmsnames  host up there is one used by the Smithsonian Institution,
which my system doesn't recognize as a valid host.  Did you get this from
someone at Smithsonian, Anita?  My informant at at Smithsonian, one of
our subscribers, said the cmsnames host name is used for mail going outside
the local system, from what she has been told, but she also says she knows
virtually nothing about anything to do with the Internet.
