Hi :-)

I'm a relative newbie to List maintenance (as many of you have
likely noted by now :)... and I find myself frustrated with the
time-intensiveness of maintaining even my simple one-way list.

I find I'm spending an inordinate amount of time dealing with
subscribers who are signed up twice, or subscribers who want off the
list, but either are too lazy to do a listserv command, or find that
the signoff command doesn't work (due to a slightly different signup
than signoff address).

The double-signup problem has been happening more and more because
when many of my members try to change their topic settings, they're
told they're not a subscriber, so they re-sign up. Then they start
getting TWO of everything, so I end up having to manually remove "one
of them" from the list.

I suppose there are no fast and easy list maintenance "secrets,"
though.

I've sped things up a bit by requiring members to TRY setting their
own topics first before I'll do it manually (and I have a macro to
tell them this :), and similarly, I've been refusing to signoff
people too lazy to try following the simple signoff instructions (I
send them a macro, too :-)

Are there any other tips or tricks any of you'd care to share for
just general maintenance issues? And also, if this isn't the right
list to be asking this sort of thing on, I apologize... feel free to
direct me towards another resource.

Thanks for your time!

P.S. -- I just discovered the "review countries" option. Wow, is
that cool! It's a bit of a trip knowing that one's list is
seen in 43 different countries :-)

P.P.S. -- In case it matters, I have the review command disabled for
all my members out of privacy concerns (I don't want my
          list harvested by spammers, etc.)
