        Apparently one-way gateways are something of a quick fix: they
do not forward anything from the newsgroup to the list, but this does
*not* prevent these posts from showing up on the newsgroup.  So the
UseNet group ends up carrying extra material, which can confuse things
to no end.  I asked for a unidirectional gateway, and got the
recommendation that the newsgroup should be set up as moderated (the
list can remain unmoderated).  That too is not ideal, but it might be
better.
 
        By the way, about my earlier request for help about the
gateway process: I received the information I need, so thanks and
please disregard the question.
