The worst part of these spams is all the e-mail one gets afterwards
"warning" you about it. I get typically one (in this case two) of the
spam ad, and about 15-20 messages from postings to lists "warning" us
about it (invariably too late to do anything about it), telling us
whether their list got hit, how annoying it is, etc. etc.

Unless it's information about a destructive worm, or information about
someone who is actually trying to subscribe to many lists to do damage
or play mischief, it seems pointless to point out the obvious -- the
only effect seems to be that of multiplying the junk mail manifold.

Perhaps someone can put together a list of "the right things to do,"
e.g., e-mail to [log in to unmask], e-mail to originator,
filter options if it threatens to be repeated, avoid random messages to
the list about it, etc., and mail it to the list once and for all.
