What I sometimes do is Forward the "bounced" mail back to the listserv
prepended with the following text:
QUIET SET listname NOMAIL NOFILES FOR userid@node

<signature>
I may have also cc:'d the postmaster, hostmaster, or co-owners
Of course I have probably stored a copy of it in my notebook too.
