According to the MAILER@SAKSU00 (LMAIL), domain-ized addresses from
SAKUS00 to cunyvm.cuny.edu are sent via NJE in BSMTP format to
SMTP@CUNYVM then some RFC822 re-write rule is applied.

As an example of a a different host's e-mail such as to: psuvm.psu.edu
(from SAKUS00) goes to the MAILER@PSUVM and thus (probably) not
re-written (at least not in the same way) like cunyvm's.
 
Thus I would ask cunyvm's postmaster for add'l info on this particular
configuration.
