How does VMSmail relate to this? I'm on a VMS machine, but the list
isn't -- Brown runs VM like a 'real' listserv machine should. I have
no idea what GSU's machine is.

What I'm asking, I suppose, is why these postings become delivery
errors. Or perhaps *whether* they're errors. After all, they don't
say anything about an error; they just get readdressed. I'm never told
that there's anything incorrect about these messages. Also, this mail
to 'owner-' comes straight from the user himself, rather than from some
        SMTPLST address or a POSTMAN.

The user is experienced enough to know that replies to other lists
seem to reach their intended targets.
