By 'postmaster' I'm assuming you mean 'Site Administrator' - the person who
looks after the LISTSERV system and is allowed to create new lists. Now:

The DEFAULT.MAILTPL file contains the templates for a lot of LISTSERV's
messages; one of these is the template for when you're added to a list,
another is the template to send to the list owner when someone is added to
the list. You have to be owner of the list in order to get either of these
notifications - since you're getting them, I assume you're also list owner
as well as site admin.

Commands for LISTSERV to process in these templates start with a . (full
stop) and have two letters - the command to send a copy of the message to
the list owners is '.CC owners'. You can remove that line, and that will
stop you getting a copy of that 'you have been added' message. OTOH, I
wouldn't recommend deleting the template that notifies you, the list owner,
that someone's been added to the list. It's only one piece of mail, and
it's always useful to know that the command has actually worked.

Hope this helps,

Paul
