I get the impression you aren't on a VM machine.  On the VM platform
you can have digests without notebooks, you just have to specify where
the stuff is to be stored.  I assume you can do that on unix and w/nt,
should be in the documentation.  (Man, I am *not* looking forward to
getting dumped off the reliable VM/CMS to a unix cluster in a few months).

You mean as as a subscriber to your list?  No, but there is a trick.
Have your sub set to MAIL, immediately before the scheduled distribution
of the digest, switch to DIGEST, then immediately back to MAIL and you
should get the bulk of the DIGEST.
 
If you have more than one account what would be a lot less trouble is
having a sub for each, one set MAIL, one set DIGEST, one set INDEX...
