But there are two sides to this issue. Protection also *attracts* subscribers.
I find it difficult to believe that a great many people will be discouraged
from using mailing lists because the subscription rolls are not reviewable
by the general public, and at the same time supposedly only a small number
will be discouraged by those openly reviewable lists that enable lots of
undesirable spamming. It is obvious, IMHO, that the reverse should be true.
