how to register a LISTSERV Password using mail

Hi
 
We have just installed LISTSERV so we have newbie questions.
 
A few questions :
how can  a user register its LISTSERV password, but using mail instead of the web app?
 
how can we control that people who register are allowed to (for instance, by checking that they have an email within the company)?
