Yes, Sue, entirely possible.  If you didn't delete your problem sub,
and the person has the addresses of your subscribers, this would be quite
easy, after a bit of work to build an address file.  Can easily be done
with many mail interfaces.

Depends on what you mean by "unscrabble."  If you mean unscramble
postings to the list, they aren't scrambled to start with.  Anyone
subscribed can redistribute as desired.

If these people, whom I assume are not subscribed, won't tell you who is
doing this you haven't a chance, unless maybe they send a reply to the
list and it includes the address of the resender.  Once the redistributor
resends the item there is no way you can trace it.  I am really curious as
to why, if they won't tell you who is doing this, they even mentioned it.
 
For intelligent analysis of the situation clearer information is needed
(you have to give names and addresses and specific examples with full
headers, Sue).
