        Unfortunately, this does break on SOME systems.  Enough that it's
probably preferable to do it for the COMPARE, but is worth not clobbering
the case of the user portion.
        Also, what is wanted to be done, if the lists are on the same
host, can be done with a ``superlist''.  Actually, the way that listserv
sees things is in terms of ``sublists''...
