Hi all,

Here is a couple of welcome messages for you to read in preparation for
writing your own. The welcome message will be one of the tasks we will
do when I start doing some training with you.

As the lists are all set up now this training can happen any time, can
each of you give me a call on 3406 2755 (62755 internally) or email me
to work out when, where etc. If possible I would like to do it in small
groups, either here at Open Access Unit or at your place. I anticipate
that we will do 1 to 2 hours then follow up to occur through this list.

This list has been set up for teachers participating in the Connecting
Teachers to the Future Project of the Department of Education
Queensland and is reserved for these teachers, their mentors and
other participants in the project. If you are *not* directly involved in
this project, please unsubscribe. If you are not a project participant,
it is requested you do not post to this list.

The purpose of this list is to provide a place for teachers
involved in the project to share their ideas and thoughts as
they navigate their way through the project.

Through this list you could:

- share a common problem or solution
- discuss an issue regarding the use of computers in learning
- find out about a great resource
- catch up on all the news from colleagues around the state
- find a partner to work on a project
-       share details of other online communities you have joined;
-       tell others about a great resource you have found;
- lots of other things that you will think of

This list will be archived and available via the world wide web at:

Theraped

Welcome to the theraped list.
This discussion list is for occupational therapists, physiotherapists
and speech-language pathologists involved in working to enhance the
learning outcomes of students with special needs in Queensland schools.
The purpose for this list is to provide a vehicle for professional
development and collegiate support that connects therapists in all areas
of Queensland. This list is intended to generate discussion on a range
of topics, from issues affecting employment, examples of good practice,
personal development ideas to the sharing of good news and jokes. The
theraped list is a closed list requiring approval from the list owner to
join. Save this file for later reference, you will want to use it.

As a subscriber to theraped, there are three important addresses for you
to remember:
1. [log in to unmask]
You must address all administrative commands to the Majordomo (software
controller/administrative host).
For example:
If you want to JOIN the list you send the following message to this
address (leaving the Subject box blank):
subscribe theraped end
If you want to LEAVE the list you send the following message to this
address (leaving the Subject box blank):
unsubscribe theraped end
This is NOT where you send your emails to the theraped list.

2. [log in to unmask]
This address is where you post your emails to the theraped list. This is
not a moderated list and thus emails to this address go directly to all
members of the theraped list for comment. If you just want your email
to be read by a particular list member, you must mail directly to that
person.

3. [log in to unmask]
This is the address of the theraped list owner. Please notify the list
owner of any problems you may be experiencing with your emails either by
email to this address or by contacting Isabel Castner at the Low
Incidence Unit, 72 Cornwall Street, Annerley, Q 4103, Ph 07) 3238-3888,
Fax 07) 3238 3888.

THERAPED mail
The SUBJECT: of mail sent to you from the theraped list is prefixed with
the listname, THERAPED, e.g. THERAPED:Has anyone used the new CELF?
This allows for the easy identification of the theraped list mail. Those
of you who do not have personal mailboxes will be able to identify your
mail on your centre+s mailbox by scanning for this prefix.

Replies
Clicking the Reply button for any mail sent to you as a theraped list
member will send your reply back to the individual who sent the mail to
the list rather than to the entire theraped list. This means you must
actively choose to send your reply to all the list members by entering
the theraped list address. Although this can slow communication back to
the list, it should make people think about whether the message is
appropriate for discussion by the list. It is also a safeguard against
getting in a loop (list sending to itself) and bringing down the server
etc.

Netiquette
1. Use the subject line to tell the nature of your message. Many persons
determine whether or not to read your message from what you say on the
subject line. Some will not read messages that do not use them.
2. Do not use words such as +help+, +info+ or +subscribe+ in the subject
line or first line of your messages to the list. This confuses the
majordomo with the result that your email may be sent to the list owner
and not to the list.
3. Focus on only one subject per message.
4. Keep messages short and to the point, otherwise add an attachment.
5. Include your name at the bottom. Some attach a signature block or
file that includes quotes, addresses, etc. Limit any such signatures to
4 lines. When sending commands to the majordomo do not attach your
signature block or file unless you finish your command with +end+.
6. Cite previous email or writer when answering or commenting on a
specific posting.
7. Remember that when you participate in a list discussion that the
information that you share is public. Resist making personal attacks
when angry. When you respond to remarks of another or answer a request,
you must decide whether to answer the person privately to his/her own
email address OR to write the list and share the answer. Both are
appropriate.
8. Don't forward information from others to the list without the
author's permission.
9. Sometimes you may want to ask a question of the list that might
generate a lot of answers. In this case, ask that replies be sent to you
privately adding that you will summarise what you receive and share the
information with the entire list later.
10. Don't use the list for commercial purposes. The advertising of
departmental resources is OK.
11. Be careful using humour. Sometimes subtle humour is misinterpreted.
12. When you plan to be gone for 2 or more weeks unsubscribe to the
list, but only if the list gets to be so large you get many messages
daily.

OasisLib-L

Welcome to OASISLIB-L. This list is a forum for discussion concerning
OASIS Library automation software.
When you are sending email to [log in to unmask] the name of
the list is not case sensitive. However, in order to ensure this term
stands out in this document OASISLIB-L has been capitalised.
DISCLAIMER:
OASISLIB-L is not connected with any owner or supplier of Oasis Library
automation software system. It is provided as a self-help,
information-sharing mechanism for Oasis Library automation software
system users.
IMPORTANT - EVEN THOUGH IT IS LONG, PLEASE READ ALL THE FOLLOWING:
1. OASISLIB-L Introduction
2. OASISLIB-L Procedures
3. OASISLIB-L Netiquette Guidelines
and save this message for future reference.

1. OASISLIB-L Introduction

OASISLIB-L stands for Oasis Library List. Edwina Dunn is the current
OASISLIB-L owner/administrator. Her email address is:
[log in to unmask]

Discussion on OASISLIB-L will include: questions and solutions for Oasis
Library system problems and concerns; tips and ideas for Oasis Library
system integration into best practise resource centre (school library)
and special library management; exchange of ideas for Oasis Library
system enhancements; sharing of achievements in utilising Oasis Library
system to produce effective teaching and learning outcomes; general
discussion on particular modules; announcements on Oasis Library system
workshops, training and conferences; use of different technology
configurations and their effects on the functionality of Oasis Library
system.

The list is open to all interested in the Oasis Library system,
especially users of the system, whether in school resource centres or
special library environments. Postings can only be made by subscribers
to the list. It is currently not moderated.

We look forward to your participation in OASISLIB-L discussions.

Note: Those wishing to learn technical details of Listserv software
which OASISLIB-L runs on, may care to read the online files LISTSERV
REFCARD and LISTSERV GENINTRO, which can be obtained by sending the
following commands in the body of the email, to

Leave the Subject line blank.

2. OASISLIB-L Procedures

Posting (sending) an email(message) to all subscribers of the discussion
list:
a)When posting to the list you must use the email address:

[log in to unmask]

b)When posting messages always include in the SUBJECT line a clear,
concise and as specific as possible, indication of the nature of your
post. Members of the list are encouraged to use/understand the following
subject line keywords:
INTRO: introductory comments from new members REF: reference information
HUMOUR: anecdotes, jokes, etc within OASISLIB-l posting guidelines
ADMIN: official posts from OASISLIB-L Administrator P-7: posts
specifically concerning Primary schools 8-12: posts specifically
concerning Secondary schools NON-SCHOOL: posts specifically concerning
special libraries not in school environments

Put these keywords at the beginning of the Subject line of relevant
posts.

c)In the message field begin with whether you are using the NSW
Department of School Education or the Softlink Oasis Library system.
Give the version of Oasis Library system you are referring to and the
module name, if referring to a specific module. These simple steps will
assist other OASISLIB-L members, to decide if they can be of assistance
to any queries, or to make pertinent and appropriate comments in reply.

d)TURN OFF any return receipt option you may have set on your email
software before posting to this list.

e)Do NOT post any virus alerts to the list. If you wish to notify the
list concerning viruses post to the list owner first indicating the
authority that you have consulted to verify the validity of the virus
alert.

f)Do NOT past any messages with attachments. The wide variety of
subscribers will have an equally wide variety of applications and thus
may not be able to open whatever you have attached.

g)The list defaults RE: (reply/return) email to the original sender, not
the list address. To reply to the original sender and the list do a RE:
ALL or a Reply to ALL. To reply only to the list, put just the list
address in the To: line.

h)Please take the time to ALTER the Subject line if the topic has moved
away from the original matter under discussion.

i)Please do NOT set any auto-reply type software to answer/reply to
posts from OASISLIB-L, e.g if going away on holidays. Too often these
create annoying loops for all list subscribers. Use the Listserv
commands to set your mail to postpone (see below).

Subscribing and unsubscribing:
a)To subscribe to OASISLIB-L, email to:

[log in to unmask]

Leave the subject line blank, in the message field (body of the email)
put:

Do not put the arrow heads in the actual email. Do not include any
signature block you may have set up in your email.

e)To unsubscribe from OASISLIB-L, email to:

[log in to unmask]

a) There are currently no frequently asked questions for this list.

List statistics:
a) The list owner will occasionally post to the list any relevant
and appropriate statistics.

3. OASISLIB-L Netiquette Guidelines

a)Always check the To: line before sending a reply email. Ensure you are
sending to the list, or to the individual, you wish to send to. A few
seconds spent checking may save you embarrassment and the OASISLIB-L
members reading posts that were not intended for general reading. Once
an email is sent it cannot be retrieved.
b)When replying do NOT, as a matter of course, include the entire
message or thread relating to the reply, especially the OASISLIB_L
auto-generated information footer, as this will be repeated in the
thread and clutter the information. Paraphrase or use cut and paste
options, if appropriate, to cut the previous message or threads and put
<snip> to show where they have been cut. This assists OASISLIB-L members
to speedier downloading in their mailboxes and to more effective reading
of posts to the list.
c)To assist in providing as much information as possible so that
OASISLIB-L members may understand your message when you post to the
list, consider including your email signature at the end of your post.
It may comprise, for this list: your name (& contact details if you
wish); state; system & institution; and position in the institution. Own
page and/or institution URLs are also welcome. Keep your email
signature a reasonable length, most lists suggest around 4-5 lines
maximum.
d)It is not appropriate to send any of the following: chain letters;
flames (rude, sarcastic and/or inflammatory emails directed at a list
member); flagrantly off-topic items; product advertising/price-lists or
grossly inappropriate messages. Senders of such posts may be removed
from the list.
e)Emoticons, e.g. smileys :-) (view this sideways) are often helpful, as
are words within arrow heads <grin>, to convey meaning and to avoid
misunderstanding. ALL CAPS IS OFTEN TAKEN TO BE A YELL. Take care using
caps.
