Yesterday I got an auto-delete from a user at ALBION.BITNET with a notation
that ALBION did not appear in BITEARN NODES VERS9407. It took me a
while to figure out that the Internet alias was ALBION.EDU, primarily
because our nameserver here apparently doesn't understand that yet :),
but it raised a question that perhaps we ought to be concerned about.
Are nodes dropping from BITNET in ever-increasing numbers, and should
we as listowners be doing something about switching our BITNET subscribers
over to Internet before they get auto-deleted in the manner noted above?
Eric, you mentioned something the other day about the imminent demise
of BITNET....can you amplify?

Thanks,
