With Pete being one of this list's "resident expert" I know this
information will be correct.

Let me share a similar problem. The problem was similar except that the
individual that had the "permanent fatal errors" in my group was ME.

It seems that I wasn't getting any of my lists messages (I choose to
receive all message from the group), but getting the bounce "permanent
fatal errors" notifications.

I contacted my ISP and they at first said I needed to contact my LIST
Serv provider. After some discussion they said that they would look
into the issue on their end.

Three days later I called them again as I was continuing to get the same
bounce message for each messaged sent.

After 30 minutes on the phone re-explaining the situation AGAIN the ISP
rep found the person that knew the answer to my problem.

It seems that for "security" reasons my ISP had placed some "wrap"
restrictions on the length of all email address on their Unix server.
Since my list name is a bit long [log in to unmask]
(Is this really a long name relatively speaking?) the server would not
accept the message.

The ISP removed or adjusted the "wrap" length and things are working
well.
