Dear Networkers:

The information of the header changes is interesting. I had an
experience with a header change without permission which has some
considerable ramifications. It is fine as it is because the change
makes possibly makes a statement about freedom and security --sort of
a pre-crisis-in-Rwanda style threat etc. Yesterday, I had a strange
experience with an automated signature where 2 additional quotes were
apparently added to the signature (someone else's) between the time I
posted it and it was returned from the listserver. I couldn't see the
point of adding two extra quotes in someone's signature: none of them
meant anything to me. It seems somehow discourteous to change the quotes in
someone's signature as these are personal and often reflect their
current Weltanschaaung. I often remove the headers so that the person
who has been kind enough to forward the information is not inundated
with inquiries ass well as the person who should receive the
inquiries. I must admit that over several years I have seen almost
everything that you have described an a few more. We have always
successfully adapted to whatever came up. I think that is important to
remember. Lstown-l makes it easier because it is like having all of
the internet manuals super-indexed with examples and solutions. I had
a strange message yesterday--new wording in an error message-- which
might be of interest. --Paul.
