The prompting for my little message yesterday was that some list owners
whom I was trying to help privately needed more help than I could give,
not being sure of all the answers. I told them to write to this list and
they would be assured of reliable answers as I have, over the years,
always gotten the answers to my dumb questions. They wrote to the list,
and by their account got no responses, so I'm still trying to help them
privately. I was upset that no one bothered to reply to them, hence my
miniflame.

I have always counted on this list for help when I need it. And I have
learned far more from the list than just technical matters. When matters
of list management appear they give me something to think of and have
helped me form a better, more coherent view on how lists should be run,
the morals, ethics and philosophy of listownership, if you will. I was
saddened that in the past month or so almost no one other than I was
responding to such things when they came up on the list.

I have always thouhgt that this list is for discussion of everything
pertaining to being a listowner, not just the technical "ho do I...?"
If no one wants to talk about such things any longer, fine, I'll just
stop expecting to see anything other than strictly technical stuff.
But I will continue to comment on topics I think are important to
listowners. And I'll try to keep in mind class schedules and such.
I guess I've forgotten how pressing the end of semesters can be.
