As Eric and Pete have both pointed out, it can't be that simple.
But I would very much like the LISTSERVer to take a search
command as the only line in an email message.  It should accept
anything the current command takes, including continuation lines.
 
The output of the search command should be a listing of messages
in the same format as used for the listing of the messages in the
INDEX option for a list subscription.
 
We also need an easy way to order the messages we want from the
index.  How about:
 
   SHIP <listname>  list-of-message-numbers
