On average, how many times does a solution have to be posted before
people get a clue?

LISTSERV/Eudora enables a list host to edit a message and post it so
that it appears to come from the original author of the message. Been
there, done that, and the details are in the archives.

Yes, a better solution is to use *nix and dump MicroSux.
