I know this is a little late, but another mail user agent that has
that problem is Microsoft Mail for Windows with the Microsoft SMTP
gateway (versions 3.x). The only good solution is user education to
cut and paste the address and surround it like [SMTP:[log in to unmask]]
(brackets are square and included). Of course, a very clever person
here at SDSU (me, blush) wrote a macro to automate the reply
process.

(It really was trivial--I'm kidding about the clever). I realize
this is all very system dependent but for listowners who have the
time and care enough to correspond with individual subscribers it's
good to be able to point them and their respective mail gurus in the
right direction). These are NOT LISTSERV problems!!
