My own personal opinion, but I agree!!!

Egroups and Onelist have just merged.  Kinda scary.  Personally I would
even rather put up with Majordomo's shortcomings rather than to sell out to
the emerging WallyWorld of mailinglistdom.

Interesting question for anyone who does care to dabble in legal stuff.
Both entities have been very careful ~not to use the term "listowner" which
makes me wonder just who ~does "own" their lists.  Owners are
euphemistically called "moderators" and lists are called "communities".
They ask for personal data from each member who joins  any list in the
system and force-feed you enough cookies to sink the Queen Mary --though
they claim that they don't spam directly or sell your data linked to your
name.

I know of a garden list that was on such a commercial server "for free". At
first when they tried to move their list in reaction to charges suddenly
imposed by the commercial server (Not Onelist, but a budding entity), that
server claimed rights to the name of the list.  The listowner had to change
the name of the list and scramble to find another server.

The lists are so easy to run that the braindead can indeed become a
listowner on Onelist/Egroups.
