I'm not familiar with the set-up of the software (I got onto this list
thinking I could spread the word about the backscatter problem - I found
this thread by googling and signed up). 

I can tell you that all of these things would have to be integrated into the
SMTP handling code of Listserv engine, if it takes the SMTP traffic directly.

Alternatively, you could put a spam firewall, something like a Barracuda
appliance, between the internet and your windows box. It would intercept the
SMTP, do the checks that wikipedia mentions, and forward on "proper" mail to
your listserv box. It's probably too costly to set up, however, for only
that purpose.
