Within the last few months I observed a strange problem with the
"permvars.file". About once a week LISTSERV stops with the following
error message in the listserv.log:
26 Nov 1997 01:09:09 Sent information mail to [log in to unmask]
26 Nov 1997 01:18:55 From [log in to unmask]: STOP
* The average CPU time used by LISTSERV for this session is 0.4%. Since
* LISTSERV was last rebooted (on 25 Nov 1997 at 05:32, ie 19h47 ago), the
* following requests have been processed:
*
* - Interactive messages from users 1
* - Postings to distribution lists 173 (14653 recipients)
* - DISTRIBUTE jobs (internal) 218
* - DISTRIBUTE jobs (from network) 149
* - Other incoming files 871

26 Nov 1997 01:18:58 >>> Error X'00000011' opening file
/user/lsv/home/permvars.file <<<
26 Nov 1997 01:18:58 -> Severity: Warning
26 Nov 1997 01:18:58 -> Facility: Unknown (0)
26 Nov 1997 01:18:58 -> Abstract: Unspecified error (2)
26 Nov 1997 01:18:58 -> I/O mode: Record write
What might cause this strange problem with the permvars.file? (I am
still using LISTSERV 1.8b on SunOS Release 4.1.3)
Regards,
Siegfried
