Hi folks (and you thought it would be an easy day!) ...

I need a way to do a few things with my lists, for several reasons:

      1) I want to close my lists a little, but I have the age old problem
of people who send from different machines in the same domain
(mostly clusters). Therefor, is there anyway that I can allow
people to do this without adding two entries to the list? This
double entry method doesn't help me because they still can't have
an affect on their "other" entry.

I am suggesting that perhaps some allowance can be made for people
with the same userid in the same domain where only the bottom
          (machine) level is different.

          An example would be:

              [log in to unmask]
          and [log in to unmask]

could each control one entry in the list.

Of course, to allow this would be a decision of the owner.

In this manner, [log in to unmask] would not = [log in to unmask] ...

      2) I am also in need of another method for logs. Daily logs are not
practical for one of my lists, and weekly ones are just too large.
Is there any way to have a new method for logs, either in the form
          of a) 2x week (m-w,th-su) or b) every n days, or 3) flexible so
someone could request a log to include postings for a specific
          range of days?

      3) Is there a version of LDBASE that people not on BITNet can use?
If not, is there any way to do this? I find it hard to explain
to people and work with them on using database functions. It's
just a pain. I like (somewhat, not too much) the ILP idea, but
I know it's not so easy to do with Listserv on VM, is it?

Ok, that's a start. Ideas/Comments/Suggestions welcome!
