LSOFT folks, thanks for all the tips, feedback, and help you've given
through this mailing list, it's helped me get a lot more out of listserv.

Part of my job is manually processing emailed requests for list removal,
from folks who can't figure out how to unsub themselves because their
email address is different or they don't understand how listserv works.

I like using the web interface to enter commands to look those people up
and remove them. Currently, I'll do q * for [log in to unmask] to see
what lists I'm on, then go into the subscribers function for that list
and remove that person that way. Is there any way I can do that from the
"command" prompt instead? I've tried noodling around with stuff like
SIGNOFF * for [log in to unmask] and variations on that, doesn't seem to
work. Have combed the manual and not come across something that might help.

I could script a fake mail from that person and format it to look like a
proper signoff command, but if they're not on the list in question,
it'll send them an informational email, and I don't want to do that,
because I'm trying to remove them for them, and I don't want to pelt
them with "you're not listed!" emails, it'll make them mad.

I like doing a signoff better than removing them from the subscriber
window because a signoff will generate a "so and so left the list"
message, which we archive for arcane reasons.

Feedback welcome.

Best,
Al Iverson
