>Turgut, why are you sending the LISTEARN code to sites like CEARN and

First, some background: listserver installation consists of packages
of files in CARD DUMP format. The server waits for all sections of this
package (defined in its header) before CARD LOAD ing the whole lot.

LISTEARN 1.0 installation consists of seven sections. My original installation
had the list of addressees of the PEERS NAMES recipients (which is a superset
of the sites that have signed the license, and are running 1.5o)
Fortunately for the link problems, only one section of the code left this site.

This section (I believe it was LISTEAR2 JOB, the smallest of the lot)
was indeed distributed to all the sites that were my PEERS NAMES recipients.
However, as soon as I got the first 'unknown command, INSTALL' from a site,
I slapped myself on the wrist and purged the other pieces of the installation
files which were still waiting here, and re-sent the distribution.
(For info: four pieces of the installation are still here, but the link
is doing better today)

1) The pieces that were sent, as you know, will not be loaded by the
server until the whole set is in the reader. It is not possible for the
'wrong' sites to receive the complete set of the installation (all 7 files)
since I stopped the rest from leaving TREARN.

2) The sites that have returned 'unknown command, INSTALL' are not in a risk
either, since these jobs are rejected, and not considered a part of the
installation at all. (As in #1, it would have been OK even if that piece was
considered a part of an installation)

3) Finally, the remaining number of sites which this code was distributed
are either valid recipients, in which case it's ok, or these files will wait
in the listserver's reader forever, in that case it's OK as well.

It's true that you couldn't have known that I stopped the sending and
altered the recipient list for the remaining sets of the installation.
Once the installation of the new code is complete, I'll forward a message
to those sites whose server may still hold the LISTEAR2, and ask them
to delete these..
Thanks for noticing! Regards, -turgut
