I've been having similar problems ... my server is run on a Solaris box.
It seems as though messages just vanish somewhere.  Some messages do "appear" to be delivered but others do not.  I check in the spool directory and there is nothing there.
Messages from some lists get posted to the listserv.log file and others (ones I've posted) do not.
Today, I simply stopped and restarted sendmail and messages seem to be flowing again.
All the messages I'd sent before I restarted sendmail went thru after the restart too!!??  Go figure.
I think I need to increase or look a little further into sendmail activity on my side.
I'm going to have to keep my eye on things here but it does seem kinda quirky sometimes.
