This has  already been discussed and  should be in the  archives. The new
filelist you attempted to  store the first time was a  copy of a filelist
which you  had not  obtained with  the CTL  option. It  was in  the wrong
format. When  you forced LISTSERV  to accept it by  logging on to  it and
placing it on its 191 and then used  the CTL option, you had used the CTL
option but you still had a file  in an invalid format. The discrepancy is
due to "cheating" by writing directly to its disk.
