I have finished my shared disk directories program and it seems to be working
(even with that !"$"!%$ HELP which calls DMSLADAD without reason and made it
necessary to define a dummy DCH with no data in non-shared storage...) What the
program allows you to do is place the FSTs of one or more public disks in a
shared segment and allow the users to access the disk using the shared copy of
the FST with a new module, ACCSHR, which will call ACCESS if it can't do the
access (eg disk has been modified since the shared segment was saved). I did
NOT want to call it ACCESS and NUCXLOAD it to override the default ACCESS com-
mand because I wanted to make sure that it did not get invoked unexpectedly.
Our CATIA V2 R2 is not working here, and of course "it's the system group's
fault and the fault of VM/SP 4 -- it worked under VM/SP 3" (they changed their
FORTRAN procedures in the meanwhile but "this can't be the cause"). Anyway I
don't like overriding default commands unless absolutely necessary, especially
when it allows users to pretend it's our fault if their programs don't work
:-)
If someone is interested in testing it I'd be glad to send a copy. Note
however that I can make no warranty as to the thing working properly in all
conditions or not, and that there is little documentation. The installation is
fairly easy though, provided you have a spare DCSS of reasonable size and
located at a convenient address -- otherwise you'll have to wait until your
users allow you to reboot the system... :-(
