You create the  listname.mailtpl  file and place it in the
x:/listserv/main  folder. You only place the individual templates you want
to change or edit into this file. You NEVER edit, change or add to the
default.mailtpl file.
If a listname.mailtpl  file exists, LISTSERV will check there first for
the template it needs, if it can't find it there, it gets it from the
default.

You can eliminate all this if you use the web interface as LISTSERV will
create and place any changed templates into the listname.mailtpl for you.
