Hi all,

First, a question:

Is there an easy way, or any way, to cause a group of lists to use the
same MAILTPL file? I'm using the list "cloning" feature as described in
the manual which is just perfect for a particular group of lists. But I
can't find any way of creating a common welcome or MAILTPL file. This is
only the first of such groups that I'll be creating and it would be great
if the owner could modify the welcome file for all of the lists in one
fell swoop.

Now, a problem:

(LISTSERV/VM 1.8e)

So far all of my list owners have preferred a modified MAILTPL to the
welcome file. Now I have an owner who wants the standard signup file and a
list welcome message to go to new subscribers. I followed the instructions
(I think) to create the welcome file for the list but LISTSERV isn't
sending it (the log verifies this). The new subscriber isn't an admin or
owner.

I added the "listname WELCOME" entry to the list's filelist. I can PUT and
GET the welcome file just fine. But I noticed that it's not stored on the
191 disk, nor does it have the same file name as defined in the filelist.
It's stored as "00000001 listname". This is contrary to my experience with
PUTting other types of files so I'm a little confused. The owner's manual
has only a brief mention of VM re the welcome file and I couldn't find any
mention of it in the site maintainer's manual. I must be doing something
wrong. Are there any VMers out there who can straighten me out?

thanks

lisa
