Can you specify in more detail in what way, exactly, it fails to work for
non-internal sites?  Do you have any error messages, etc?

It's hard to debug without more info - sort of like taking your car to a
mechanic and saying "Fix it, it doesn't work" without any more detail than
that.  You'd tell your mechanic "There's a odd sound down by the left wheel
when I turn sharply", right?
