Don't bother using LISTSERV's makefile for managing your aliases (not
even if you use Sendmail -- it's easier to handle with an editor). On
qmail, just put lsv_amin into .qmail-default so that *all* mail not for
a specific user of the system goes to LISTSERV. That way you don't have
to deal with aliases at all -- if you make a new list, it is online
immediately. This also means that the probe feature will work. i.e. the
contents of .qmail_default:
        |/var/qmail/bin/preline /usr/local/bin/lsv_amin -t "$LOCAL"
You will also need to put into ~listserv/.qmail:
        |/var/qmail/bin/preline /usr/local/bin/lsv_amin -t listserv
That's it.

Search this list's archives for qmail and you will find that a couple of
us are using it. Error handling is a bit of an issue because qmail's
error format is unique and not understood by LISTSERV -- you will want
to convert the reports somehow, perhaps with Paul Graham's perl script
(also mentioned here earlier) ...

Young people wonder how the adult world can be so boring. The secret is
that it is not boring to adults because they have learnt to enjoy simple
things like covert malice at one another's expense. This is why they
talk so much about the value of human understanding and sympathy. It
has a certain rarity value in their world. [Celia Green]
