I am guessing that WA is using mailboxes rather than TCP/IP to communicate with LISTSERV. Mailboxes are used as a fallback if communication could not be established with TCP/IP, usually because the LISTSERV_TCPGUI_IPADDR logical is undefined in the context of the WA CGI process.
