LISTSERV might support BSMTP in a future release, but right now it doesn't.
However, only three of the 41 servers have a release < 1.5, so it means we
have 38 servers that know about DISTRIBUTE.

Now it would take from 5 to 15 minutes to write an exec which takes a
BSMTP job as input and creates a LISTSERV DISTRIBUTE job as output. The gate-
way then sends the thing to LISTSERV@nearestnodetoWISCVMwhichhasaFRECP11-LIST
SERV, and it gets distributed with acceptable efficiency in the states, and
excellent efficiency in Europe since we *do* have servers at the hub nodes
unlike the USA. This would probably divide the load by 5 for the european
recipients. It's easy to install, easy to use, efficient, transparent to the
user, etc. The file would have to be distributed as a FILE and NOT as MAIL
since ARPA-mail headers usually cause the Crosswell MAILER to choke, but
what the heck? LISTSERV would just add a blank line on top of the mail item
and that's all. Who's the WISCVM gateway contact?
