There are other parts  of the code that depend on  VERS being first, like
the RELEASE  command, and  NODESGEN, and others  I haven't  thought about
yet.  Actually I  wouldn't be  surprised  if GENROUTS  and UPDNODES  also
depended on that. I  may decide to fix that when  the "new" BITEARN NODES
comes in, but I think it's not worth the effort to do it before...
