I am interested in obtaining a new platform for a
mailing list which I presently manage via my own system, which
it is quickly becoming too much of a burden on my equipment.

The list presently has about 100 members, and that increases by
3 or 4 per day now. The list is a discussion of the X*Press
        X*Change hardware/software package which is a newswire
(UPI/AP/TASS/ETC) delivery system via satellite and cable TV,
which is capable of being received on almost all computers.

A semi-in-depth explanation of the list is attatched to this
        message for your inspection.

Should anyone be able to assist me in my search for a spot on a
LISTSERVer, please let me know. I would be greatly appreciative
of any help anyone would be able to offer.

X*Press X*Change is a world news [UPI/AP/NOT USENET] transfer system that
is delivered via cable TV (see explanation at end). The X*Press company has
software for the IBM PC, Mac, Amiga, and Atari ST. A mailing list has
been set up to discuss the following items:

o The X*Press Service, In General

o What can be done to improve the service

o What can be done to improve the software package (*)

o Tips, Hints, etc. regarding the service and software

		o Anything which relates to X*Press X*Change

(*) This list may be of special interest to programmers who are
interested in helping develop a new software package for the IBM PC
which will include the bare necessities which X*Press left out.
Should you be interested in helping, please, let us know.

The following is an edited review of the X*Press X*Change service and
software by Gary Bourgois, it helps to explain what this service is all
about:

X*PRESS X*CHANGE is a very interesting and fun system that brings you access
to a LOT of the worlds newswires direct from space to your computer (or over
CATV Cable). It has it's own messaging system, and also has GREEN NET and
other selected network conferences (no nothing from USENET). The system has
great potential to provide some really useful information for those willing
to babysit it. Just having the evenings TV schedule helped me find a couple
things I had overlooked in the (messy) cableguide. (They also give ME/U
schedules and C/SPAN schedules, Soap Opera capsules, and best viewing bets
for primetime). I learned about the Earthquake in Turkey over X*press
X*change even though I had my radio on. I got the 7PM Associated Press
newsfeed at 7:14PM.

Their premium service includes a stock ticker and personal portfolio from
Standard and Poors. Any Businessman worth his salt should have this service.
This requires an additional module, and subscription.

For cable subscribers, X*X* is included in the basic cable monthly fee, you
pay NOTHING for access to the data. This is why they don't want you
"sharing" the information you receive on your screen with anyone. It is
amazing to have all this stuff coming in and not having to pay a huge fee for
it.

X*PRESS X*CHANGE is worth the price of admission. I paid more than that for
my first 300 baud modem.

Check it out! If you have a dish, or if your cable company has the
datastream present (many many of them do) You can get your own X*X* box by
getting out your hunk of plastic and calling: 1-800-7-PC-NEWS. If you get
Mike Buel, you will find a nice helpful person on the other end who will
answer your questions and see you get the box, and cables that will work for
you.
