I personally  favour the 'gateway'  solution, for several reasons.  It is
the only solution that makes sure we  will have no problem if changes are
made to either  versions in the future,  it is not too  difficult to code
after all (especially now that the two "split" servers run the exact same
code), and it  can be financed by EARN out  of their software development
task force project. I would welcome  comments from the EARN officials who
are on this list.
