You  can't. It's  the  escape  character in  RFC822,  it has  syntactical
meaning. It can  itself be escaped into the address,  but this looks ugly
("Universit<backslash>"at") and  not all  versions of the  mailer support
it. The proper way to write such addresses is Universitaet and Muenster.

Delete him. Were you expecting a "miracle" solution? As long as you don't
delete him,  he'll get  the mail.  As long as  he gets  the mail  and his
mailbox his full, his operating system will generate an error. As long as
an error  is generated,  it will be  bounced back to  the list  owner. It
would be  ethically unacceptable  to discard the  delivery error  for the
selfish comfort of the list owner  when network bandwidth is being wasted
and something should be done about it.
