If the editor is using Eudora, it may be a user error. If the "enclosed
message" has a header of the form:
To: [log in to unmask] (on behalf of [log in to unmask])
you're seeing the same thing. Here's part of a canned message I send
in these cases:

This is a canned reply in regards to recent mail you sent to
Listserv. Your mail bounced because you used the Eudora
'Redirect' function, which generated a To: field which Listserv
did not like. You should use the 'Send Again' function, and
make sure you update the To: field to point to Listserv.
