There is a real issue. HPO5 has been plagued by a significant amount of
spool problems and, even today, there are sites whose PEERS NAMES I
cannot update because of a bug in the RDR command that does not always
recognize NETDATA files as being what they are, and of course a NETDATA
file processed as if it were in PUNCH format tends to generate invalid
commands. I have another case where spool files mysteriously disappear
from LISTSERV's reader, and a lot of cases where the TRANSFER command
doesn't work because LISTSERV has class D and a bug (fixed since then,
but the fix is not always installed because of the myriad of other
pre-reqs) made it mandatory to do 'TRANSFER your-own-userid RDR' rather
than 'TRANSFER RDR' when you have the privs to affect other userids.
