It seems quite often recently I've wished for a LISTFILE command for
LISTSERV. I find myself in a situation where I know of a file (or
partial fileid) that is stored somewhere on a LISTSERV, but don't
know the exact FILELIST where it's stored. Typically, I'm looking for
"related information," and want to INDEX the FILELIST that contains
this file.

It would be helpful if LISTSERV provided a command with something like
the following syntax:
   LISTFILE fnpat ftpat flpat
where the patterns would allow the standard LISTFILE wildcards. To be
useful (at least to me), it would need to search all FILELISTs subordinate
to any FILELISTs that match flpat.

Is there already a way to do this? Would anyone else find it useful?
Thanks
Bill
