I had totally forgotten about the change a couple years ago so that LISTSERV
could extract the "name" if present.  I forgot about it as I saw it as
rather pointless, and, given all the problems it can lead to, I still do.
 
I still advocate that subscribers should be told the drill is:
 
sub listname Firstname Lastname
 
It is reasonably clear and saves confusion and having to go into more
detailed explanations, which I definitely favor.  Then of course,
sometimes I can't stand it any more so give it as "Given-name Surname"
but not often as answering the "What?" questions gets tiresome.
