Maybe this ignores your direct question, but a uri of the form

   http://listserv.yourcompany.com/cgi/wa?SUBED1=listname&A=1

will send a web browser to the list "subscription page" (supply your own
listserv domain name, path to "wa", and listname).

Another technique that uses just e-mail is of the form

   mailto:[log in to unmask]

Of course, the people that can't invoke their e-mail program from their
browser won't find the latter useful.  :-(       cheers, wayne
