I can't speak for most subscribers, but I can tell you that that drives
me nuts. I get a ton of email, and can't possibly keep track of messages
simply by their subject, nor do I have any desire to start searching
through my Deleted Mail folder to see if I can find it.

Not to mention if a thread gets complicated, so that a person could be
responding to any one of a dozen messages that speak to different aspects
of a topic.
