My experience is that they aren't necessarily sending it to OWNER-listname,
though in fact some broken mail clients do, but instead they quote the
whole message, headers, trailers, everything, and say very little. I am
then graced with the bounce, and instead of being a victim, I send them a
boilerplate response.
Their judicious use of their e-mail system editor pay dividends in
redeeming subscribers' network, disc, and personal time.
Dear
If you want this distributed to all of FINAID-L, you will need to
remove the original "headers" that you included in your reply: the
software does not allow you to include them, thinking that it is
a "loop."
Additionally, please remove all other original signatures and text
NOT essential for context -- sometimes all you will need is a
relevant SUBJECT: RE: line in your reply.
Otherwise, simply forward to your intended correspondent.
Thanks.
