A properly composed body-of-text message should be able to avoid the "annoying" aspect of having such a posting distributed to all subscribers e.g.,
Dear Fellow xxxx-L Subscribers:
You are receiving this from the list-owner because we are having difficulties with analyzing a recurring list problem.
Kindly do NOT respond unless you are having a problem with the list, in which case write a short message to: listname-REQUEST@listhost
