I don't _know_ if it works for non-NADs, but see if you can assign
yourself a LISTSERV password at the site hosting the list i.e.,
 
PW ADD xxxxxxxx
 
 
Assuming you can do that, then try the following:
 
UNSUB list (PW=xxxxxxxx
 
 
No warranty, etc.
