I don't know  Thunderbird, but is it possible that Thunderbird is 
adding some kind of encoding on the Subject line? Earlier versions of 
LISTSERV had problems with recognizing subject tags if the mail 
client encoded the subject tag itself. It's possible that upgrading 
to 14.3 would solve the problem (if that is indeed what is causing 
it).
